Saving a tooth

Save the tooth first, take it out only if needed

A painful or infected tooth can often be kept with root canal treatment. When it cannot be saved, it is taken out with proper numbing and clear aftercare.

Root Canal Treatment

When decay or a crack reaches the nerve inside a tooth, the nerve becomes infected and it hurts. Root canal treatment cleans the infected tissue out of the canals, disinfects them and seals them, so the tooth can stay in your mouth instead of coming out. It usually takes more than one visit, and a crown is often recommended afterwards to protect the tooth.

  • Throbbing pain, often worse at night
  • A tooth that hurts long after something hot or cold
  • Swelling or a gum boil near a tooth

RM800 · Crown afterwards RM900 per tooth

Extractions

Taking a tooth out is the last option, not the first. We only recommend it when the tooth cannot be saved, when it is crowding the others, or when a baby tooth is holding up the adult tooth behind it. The area is numbed properly first and we explain the aftercare before you leave.

  • A tooth is broken down too far to restore
  • Overcrowding, sometimes as part of braces treatment
  • A baby tooth that will not come out on its own

Permanent tooth RM150 · Baby tooth RM60 to RM100 · Minor oral surgery RM800

Rebuilding & replacing

When a tooth is badly damaged or already gone

Missing teeth make chewing harder and let the teeth beside the gap drift. There are a few ways to fill that gap, and the right one depends on your mouth and your budget.

Crown & Bridge

A crown is a cap that covers a weak or heavily filled tooth and takes the chewing force for it. A bridge replaces a missing tooth by joining a false tooth to the teeth on either side of the gap. Both are made in a lab and matched to the colour of your other teeth, so they take a couple of visits.

  • A tooth has cracked or has very little natural structure left
  • After root canal treatment, to stop the tooth splitting
  • One or two missing teeth with healthy teeth on both sides

Dentures

Dentures are removable replacements for several missing teeth, or for a whole arch. We take impressions, the lab builds them, then we fit and adjust them until they sit comfortably. Expect a short settling-in period: speaking and eating feel odd for the first week or two, and that is normal.

  • Several teeth missing in one jaw
  • All the teeth missing in the upper or lower jaw
  • A bridge is not possible or does not fit your budget

From RM250 + RM60 per tooth · Prices for each kind below

Three kinds of denture

Acrylic

The most affordable option. A pink acrylic plate carries the teeth. Easy to add to later if you lose another tooth.

Partial plate RM250 + RM60 per tooth · Full upper or lower RM1,000

Chrome

A slim metal framework. Thinner, stronger and less bulky against the palate than acrylic, so many people find it easier to wear.

Partial plate RM850 + RM60 per tooth

Flexible

A bendy gum-coloured base with no metal clasps showing, so it blends in.

Same price as chrome

Which option suits you can only be decided after the dentist looks at the tooth and, where needed, an x-ray. We will talk you through the choices and the cost of each before anything is booked.
