Types of Braces

Five types, including clear & hidden braces

Fixed braces stay on all the time and are not taken out, so there is nothing to remember to wear. Want clear or hidden braces? Ceramic braces are clear and blend with your tooth colour, and lingual braces hide behind the teeth.

Gentle, Continuous Pressure

How one bracket moves one tooth

The wire wants to return to its natural shape. As it does, it presses gently on the bracket, and the bone around the tooth root slowly adjusts. The tooth moves roughly 1mm a month toward the dashed target.

FAQ

Questions about braces treatment

How much do braces cost?
RM6,000 all-inclusive for metal braces, with two payment plans (A and B). Extractions, scaling, retainer and rebonding are included. Instalments from RM150 per visit. Other types (self-ligating, ceramic, lingual and gold) are quoted at your examination.
Can a general dentist fit braces?
Yes. Registered general dentists in Malaysia may provide braces. Dr Amri bin Abdullah has more than 30 years of experience. Every case starts with an examination, and if your case needs to be referred elsewhere, he tells you honestly at that examination. See whether your teeth suit braces.
How long does braces treatment take?
Most cases take 18-24 months, depending on how complex the case is. We give you a realistic estimate at your first examination.
Does getting braces hurt?
Fitting usually doesn't hurt. Some pressure and mild soreness for a few days after each adjustment is normal and manageable.
Do I need extractions before braces?
Not every case needs extractions. If yours does, they are included in the RM6,000 fee at no extra charge.
How often are adjustment visits?
Usually every 4-6 weeks. We are open on Saturdays and Sundays, so adjustments don't have to interrupt your working week.
I want something people won't notice. What are my options?
Choose clear or hidden braces. Ceramic braces use clear, tooth-coloured brackets, and lingual braces sit behind the teeth, out of sight. Both are fixed braces, so they keep working without you having to remember to wear them. See the types of braces above.
Can adults wear braces?
Yes. Teeth move at any age, as long as the gums and bone are healthy. Read more in Braces for adults.
Do I have to pay everything up front?
No. You start with a RM1,000 deposit to confirm your fitting date, then follow Payment Plan A or B. Instalments are arranged in-house, so there is no bank application.
